Drought and Flood Mitigation – Uganda
The increasing frequency and severity of droughts and floods in Uganda occasioned by climate change threaten the agricultural economy. The Drought and Flood Mitigation Service (DFMS) aims to help decision makers address some of these threats. Earth Observation (EO) data can help.
The Environment Systems Data Services platform has received a new update which includes many enhancements and tweaks that will help subscribers get the most out of the data products we have on offer. We have also introduced our ‘Demonstrator’ a site to show how it is possible to map, model and monitor a variety of indicators using our platform.
Satellites to Improve Agri-Food Systems
A two year, collaborative R&D project which aims to develop applications of Sentinel, Earth observation (EO) derived information products for environmental compliance and productivity monitoring in agriculture. The data output is aimed at the specialist/expert users in national agencies and businesses focused on food production and food security markets.
Data Services Update – July 2017
Our Data Services portal has received an update. We are now providing a ‘Premium’ service option where a user can select precise areas or upload a shapefile and then select the dates of interest. If you need to be able to track change over time this is the way to do it.
Environment Systems is leading ‘EO4cultivar’ an international collaboration project with partners in the UK, Peru and Colombia. EO4cultivar will work with commercial and government stakeholders to deliver information within the growing season via a cloud-based processing and storage infrastructure.
DFMS (Drought and Flood Mitigation Service) is focused on improving sustainability in the Karamoja region of Uganda. It aims to provide accurate flood and drought predictions to farmers so that they are able to use that information to adjust their farming and livestock activities.
