On the 23rd December 2014 Environment Systems acquired the business interests of Ecology Matters Ltd, an established and growing ecological services company based in Wales. To maintain continuity all existing ecological services will now be available from ‘Environment Systems’ and continue to operate much as before. The synergy resulting from the unified company will benefit customers who will have access to a wide range of complementary services, combining ecological expertise with advanced GIS modelling and remote sensing.

The acquisition is an opportunity for customers of both companies. Aware of each other and growing, when Environment Systems recruited the Ecology Matters’ General Manager an obvious and complementary nexus became apparent. The acquisition enables Environment Systems to widen its market appeal with a range of services that are a perfect fit, as trusted providers of environmental evidence and insight. Customers for ecological services will benefit from Environment Systems’ advanced remote sensing and earth observation skills and ecological practitioners themselves will benefit from many of the in field efficiencies and insights that result from the analysis of the landscape from above.

Environment Systems will provide a wide range of services such as ecological surveys, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), site interpretation and ground truthing. A number of Ecology Matters’ practitioners are licensed protected species workers enabling specialist surveys to be undertaken.

“In addition to the great ecological work that Ecology Matters does, customers will now be able to access the full range of Environment Systems’ products and services including SENCE, our ground breaking ecosystem services mapping and modelling platform,” said Steve Keyworth, Commercial Director. “We also offer world class analysis and modelling capability in environmental remote sensing from satellite, aircraft and drones together with the delivery of environmental data from GIS and geoinformatics, crowd sourcing and citizen science. We also have expertise in invasive species, agri-environment monitoring and agriculture. We are able to take on more, deliver bigger projects across Wales and the UK and increasingly the world.”
