Today, Monday, the 27th of June, Environment Systems opens its new office at The Bayes Centre at the University of Edinburgh.
The Bayes Centre is the University innovation hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The technical strengths in Bayes build on world-leading academic excellence in the mathematical, computational, engineering, and natural sciences at the University’s College of Science and Engineering.
The New Edinburgh office for Environment Systems will drive forward a solution to best practice for data utilisation, analytics and modelling to enable an evidence-based, transparent, targeted approach to peatland restoration. This Scottish Government Civtech project is being developed in partnership with The Tweed Forum Ltd and Land & Habitat Ltd.

Steve Keyworth, a Director at Environment Systems, says, “we are helping policymakers, investors, and land managers find simple answers to two complex questions – Where is the peat that needs restoring, and how do we prioritise its restoration. We understand that restoring peatlands, covering 20% of Scotland, is key to the Scottish Government’s response to climate change and the climate emergency. In good condition, peatland offers a fantastic natural carbon store.”
The Bayes Centre residency gives the Environment Systems the perfect base to build its presence in Scotland and continue expanding its involvement in addressing some of the critical global challenges.
